Notre sends directly to nearby devices first, quietly and without requiring the internet.
Once two people pair nearby, Notre can use an encrypted internet relay when they are apart. No sign-up or login required. Choose Local Only whenever you want nearby delivery without Firebase or remote notifications.
Everything you need to pass a note. Nothing you don't.
Notre uses Apple's Multipeer Connectivity framework. Nearby notes travel directly between devices over local Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, without using the internet relay.
See whether a note is sending, waiting to retry, queued, delivered, failed, or expired. Notifications can alert recipients when connectivity, notification settings, and iOS allow.
Choose one or several nearby people. Previously paired people can remain available through the encrypted internet relay when they are no longer nearby.
Share a note through Messages, email, or another app. Shared links include the note and sender name in the URL, so use them only for content you are comfortable sharing outside Notre's encrypted relay.
Received notes are stored on the recipient's device until viewed or deleted, surviving app termination, device restart, and app updates.
No sign-up or login is required. Local Only disables Firebase relay traffic after relaunch, and an in-app control can delete the installation's internet-relay records.
Under the hood.
iPhone and iPad. Requires iOS 17 or later.
Apple MultipeerConnectivity over local Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. No internet connection required for nearby sending.
Notre requires no login. In normal mode, it creates an anonymous Firebase installation identity to authorize internet-relay delivery.
Nearby delivery is direct. Relay note text is encrypted on the sender's device, while routing metadata and sender name are processed by Firebase. Local Only avoids that relay traffic.
